Technical Tips
Check Window Seals and Run Channels for excessive wear. Wear of these parts could create more friction on the glass which in turn causes more stress on the Window Regulator.
Window Run channels should be cleaned and lubricated before installation of the new Window Regulator Assembly. Silicone spray works well.
The replacement Regulator should have a liberal amount of grease on the slide area. If there is not much grease present, white lithium grease works well to lubricate the slide area.
To access the Window Regulator, a plastic pry tool is useful. It will not easily damage delicate trim
like a screwdriver or a metal pry bar.
Inspect all door hinge pins and strikers. If door drops when opened, hinge bushings and pins may be worn out.
To secure the window glass during installation, use painter’s tape rather than duct tape to secure the window – it will not damage paint or leave a sticky residue.
Always torque fasteners to specs (do not over-tighten).
Always replace door panel retaining clips.
Carefully align all components. Operate window and check for binding BEFORE re-installing door panel.
Make adjustments as required.
Aftermarket window tinting can cause the window to travel slower and put additional strain
on the Window Regulator Assembly.
